Welcome to the publications of the Botanical Society of America. Our mission is to publish and support the Society in promoting botany, the field of basic science dealing with the study and inquiry into the form, function, development, diversity, reproduction, evolution, and uses of plants and their interactions within the biosphere.
Publications
AJB
American Journal of Botany (AJB) is an internationally renowned journal publishing innovative, significant research of interest to a wide audience of scientists in all areas of plant biology (including ecology, evolution, physiology, biodiversity, systematics, development, genetics, paleobotany, structure and function), all levels of organization (ecosystem to molecular), and all organisms studied by botanical researchers (including land plants, algae, fungi, lichen, cyanobacteria).
Applications in Plant Sciences (APPS)
Applications in Plant Sciences (APPS) is a monthly, peer-reviewed, open access journal promoting the rapid dissemination of newly developed, innovative tools and protocols in all areas of the plant sciences, including genetics, structure, function, development, evolution, systematics, and ecology. Given the rapid progress today in technology and its application in the plant sciences, the goal of APPS is to foster communication within the plant science community to advance scientific research. APPS is a publication of the Botanical Society of America, originating in 2009 as the American Journal of Botany's online-only section, AJB Primer Notes & Protocols in the Plant Sciences.
The Plant Science Bulletin
The Plant Science Bulletin is the Botanical Society of America's member newsletter, published three times a year, with information on upcoming meetings, courses, field trips, news of colleagues, new books, and professional opportunities. It also serves as a forum for circulating BSA committee reports, for distributing innovative teaching approaches and methods, and for discussing issues of concern to Society members such as environmental policy and educational funding.
